Job Scope:
You will primarily be involved with product development, improvement activities, corrective actions, and transitioning new products from development to production. The position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager (who reports to the Plant Manager), and while you may lead teams, it has no direct reports. Here are some position highlights:
- Design, specify, and/or implement new parts and equipment to accomplish improvement goals.
- Oversee pFMEA risk analysis, and ensure equipment maintains conformance with specifications.
- Improve processes to enhance product quality and reduce waste (material, time, scrap, etc.)
- Work closely with production/maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure the timely completion of projects.
- Participate in capacity and capital planning activities; provide cost estimates for standard production parts.
- Participate in a rotating 5S schedule as an auditor for local facility and owner for local common areas.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; minimum three years of manufacturing experience.
- Medium-to-high level computer skills. Moderate understanding and command of statistics.
- Working knowledge of process qualifications such as APQP, SPC, FMEA.
- Helpful industry skills: rubber injection/compression/transfer, injection molding.
- Six Sigma Black Belt and/or Automation experience is a plus.
- Good collaboration and communication skills are necessary as well.
