Vernay manufactures, assembles and tests complex flow-control components and devices utilizing a wide range of production technologies including rubber injection molding and finishing equipment. Vernay is searching for an important addition to its team in Griffin, GA – an experienced LIM Engineer with excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving skills.
Position Title: LIM Engineer
Location: Griffin, GA
Job Scope:
This individual will be responsible for the successful introduction, launch and continued growth of new and best practice LIM processes. This includes research, development, and handoff to the Operations teams using the resources of the R&D department, Sales/Marketing, NPD Engineering Team and any necessary outside resources.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Skills:
- Assisting in creating a LIM trained workforce that includes, engineering, maintenance, technicians and operators.
- Participates in the C2L Strategic Program in Vernay’s drive for world class product development with respect to LIM. This includes providing a “turnkey” service to the business for new product development, coordinating cross functional activities and creating avenues for technology introductions and improvements.
- Work closely with and encourage a spirit of cooperation with the Sales, R&D, and operations teams.
- Provide the required technical support to the sales group including customer visits with the sales team as needed.
- Communicate with our customer’s technical teams and create a sense of cooperation and competence with that team.
- Comply with all safety/housekeeping procedures and company policies and ensure that employees within Vernay do the same.
- Use Epicor (ERP system) for project management, engineering masters, and new part cost structure.
- Assume responsibility for the Release to Manufacturing of New Products documentation package to Operations
- Prepares monthly project status reports
- Develops and documents tooling, processes, inspection methodology for Release to Manufacturing
- Assists in the creation of Vernay’s Engineering Project Worksheet identifying potential New Product
- Development costs, processes, materials and capital equipment that will render a viable fiscal opportunity to be realized.
- Supports IQ/OQ/PQ activities
- Works with designers and toolmakers in creating cost-effective and robust fixtures and molds
- Partakes in completing Vernay’s APQP documents such as pFMEAs, Flow Charts, Control Charts, IPs etc.
- Provides capital equipment acquisition justifications
- Establish preventative maintenance elements with Maintenance department personnel for new equipment
- Actively participate in 5S program by achieving and consistently maintaining 3S in personal work area.
- Participate in rotating 5S schedule as auditor for the local facility and owner for local common areas.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Engineering technology, preferably mechanical, manufacturing or other engineering discipline backed by relevant experience.

Ability to use data and facts to explore non existing solutions and processes that will enable Vernay to evolve into and stay the technical leader.

Able to work effectively across all functional levels and departments within Vernay as well as independently

Resourceful individual with excellent verbal and written communications skills

Familiarity of robotics, vision inspection systems, and PLC programming preferred

PPAP, GMP qualification experience preferred

Silicone or thermoplastic molding experience is preferred

Knowledge of Epicor ERP system or equivalent is preferred

Blueprint reading including GD&T dimensioning as well as review of 3D files

Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite software

Knowledge of SPC

Willingness to partake in domestic and international travel
